Symbols & identifiers
MIC:TICKER symbols, stable IDs and point-in-time lookups with as_of.
Exchange-qualified symbols
Symbols are MIC:TICKER, the ISO 10383 market identifier code and the ticker on that exchange, such as XNAS:AAPL or XNYS:JNJ. A bare ticker such as AAPL resolves to the exchange listing that ticker. symbols accepts a comma-separated batch; batch size follows your plan.
GET /v1/eod?symbols=XNAS:AAPL,XNYS:JNJ&from=2026-09-01&to=2026-09-18Every requested symbol appears in data or in meta.errors: an unresolved symbol is reported as symbol-not-resolved, and a listing with no rows for the request (no quote, or no bar on that date) as no-data. A request in which no symbol resolves returns 404 symbol-not-resolved, whatever the size of its list.
Markets covered
Every plan covers U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs (Free only its seven tickers). Pro, Commercial and Scale add crypto pairs (CRYPTO), currency pairs (FOREX), index levels (INDEX) and the listings of seven exchanges outside the U.S.; Commercial and Scale also add U.S. corporate bonds (BOND) and mutual funds (NMFQ and FSRV). Free and Developer are U.S. only, and a request for another market returns 403 market-not-entitled.
| Exchange | MIC | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Toronto Stock Exchange | XTSE | XTSE:RY |
| TSX Venture Exchange | XTSX | XTSX:FAIR |
| Cboe Canada | NEOE | NEOE:AAPL |
| London Stock Exchange | XLON | XLON:VOD |
| Euronext Paris | XPAR | XPAR:MC |
| Euronext Amsterdam | XAMS | XAMS:INGA |
| ASX | XASX | XASX:BHP |
These listings have end-of-day and intraday bars, dividends, splits, fundamentals and earnings in the listing's own currency (London in pence, GBX). Their quotes refresh hourly while the market is open. SEC filings, insider transactions, short interest, analyst ratings and flat files cover U.S. listings only.
Stable identifiers
Tickers change; identifiers do not. instrument_id is the stable public identity of a listing and survives renames and exchange moves. security_id carries the same value and is being superseded by instrument_id; read instrument_id where a payload has it, and treat both as opaque strings.
Resolve a symbol or ISIN, CUSIP, FIGI, CIK or LEI to an instrument with GET /v1/instruments. An instrument's identifiers and its ticker history are GET /v1/instruments/{instrument_id}/identifiers and GET /v1/instruments/{instrument_id}/symbols.
Point in time: as_of and symbol_at
as_of is the knowledge cutoff, given as a date: a response contains only what was knowable by the end of that UTC day, so a backtest sees the data it would have seen then, without later restatements. It defaults to now and cannot be in the future; today reads up to the moment of the request. Responses echo the exact cutoff in meta.as_of, and cursors pin it across pages.
symbol_at picks which listing a ticker meant, as of the end of that UTC date. It defaults to as_of, so with a historical as_of a ticker resolves to the listing that held it then, even if another company uses it today.
Tickers are recorded only where there is evidence for them, for many listings from 2003, though prices start earlier. On the price, corporate-action, filing and fact endpoints, a date before a listing's earliest recorded ticker still finds the listing by that ticker when no record contradicts it. Its rows carry the symbol as a label, listed in meta.unrecorded_symbols; OHLC does not assert the listing traded under it then. A ticker another listing held, or one a listing was renamed from or to, returns 404 symbol-not-resolved naming that listing. instrument_ids select a listing at any date.
